Renovations set to begin at the South County Recovery Center

After a long and arduous process, renovations are set to begin at the South County Recovery Center at 67 State Road in Great Barrington. When completed the center will house three small offices, a flex space, kitchenette and staff break room, and large community space.

This center is the culmination of countless hours from many, many concerned citizens from South County and beyond. Their tireless efforts and advocacy has allowed this dream to come true.

Huge shout out to the Giannaris Family, Jess Cooney Design for providing us with an awesome design, to Paul Supranowicz from Alternative Living Centers/Custom Renovations for the contractor work, and to Gabriel Electric for electrical work, Martino Glass for window treatments, and of course the South Berkshire Opioid Consortium, South County Opioid Working Group, Southern Berkshire Rural Health Network, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.

The South County Recovery Center will operate on a peer-support model. This model utilizes persons who are receiving services from the center to guide the programming and overall direction of the center.

Currently, Rural Recovery and SCRC offer an online and in-person All-Recovery formatted meeting, recovery coach services and referrals to other agencies. In the coming months the center will be scheduling peer advisory board meetings, community events, naloxone trainings and distribution, and expanded groups and recovery programming.

We are also looking forward to hosting movie nights and other fun activities that will really help to build and gel the South County Recovery Community that is so desperately needed. Stay Tuned!!!! We will be updating the as the renovation proceeds!!!!

Exterior. We’re going to need a sign!

Blinds will be removed, windows frosted, floors and carpets replaced and made uniform.

Ceiling tiles and lighting fixtures will be replaced.
