Bilingual Recovery Coach

Recovery Coach at the SCRC

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes recovery-relationship with recoveree, explains recovery Coach role, discusses principles of

self-determination and ethical considerations including confidentiality, and recoveree determination to

continue or end the coaching relationship.

  • Obtains a signed contract from each recoveree after reviewing the above;

  • Assists recoveree in identifying their strengths and recovery capital;

  • Assists recoveree in creating and achieving goals using their Wellness Plan;

  • Identifies recovery resources and assists recoveree in identifying and overcoming barriers and obstacles

to recovery;

  • Provides telephone support as needed between in-person sessions with recoveree;

  • Accompanies recoveree to initial mutual-aid meetings, court and other providers as needed;

  • Serves as role model and advocate, utilizing a recovery oriented supportive environment framework;

  • Understands and uses agency policies and procedures including the Recovery Coach Code of ethics.

  • Seeks clarification as needed from Recovery Coach Supervisor;

  • Attends monthly group coach meetings currently held the third Tuesday of every month at 3pm;

  • Attends one-on-one supervision weekly or bimonthly depending on number of recoverees (≥ 5 requires

weekly meetings);

  • Provides coverage for recoveree when absent for a week or more;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates organization, time management and prioritizing skills;

  • Demonstrates follow-up and follow-through skills;

  • Manages relationships with recoverees and other agency coaches in a constructive and positive manner;

Eligibility Criteria:

  • High proficiency speaking, reading, and writing Spanish and English

  • Recovery Coaches at the SCRC must have lived experience, and have experience

with adults with substance addiction.

  • This individual should have experience and knowledge regarding the addiction treatment service system, recovery values and principles, and other related human services.

  • Completion of BSAS or CCAR Recovery Coach training required. Must work toward CARC credential.

  • Recovery coaches at the South County Recovery Center are supervised and mentored by the center director.
