Rural Recovery to offer free 2-day CMC Invitation To Change training for professionals supporting clients with a family member’s substance use

The Invitation to Change (ITC) is a holistic, helping model for families affected by substance use, drawing from concepts, also found in CRAFT, MI and ACT. This training is designed to provide professionals, (psychologists, counselors, social workers, peer recovery specialists and those who work with families) with a complete set of tools for family work.

This free, full 2-day, 16 hour training uses didactic and experiential training methods to walk you through the ITC model. You'll learn the why and how of the components of ITC, including Behaviors Make Sense, Ambivalence is Normal. One Size Doesn't Fit All, Self Awareness, Willingness, Self Compassion, Communication Skills, and Behavior Skills. When combined, these components help family members struggling with a loved ones, substance use, learn how to increase connection, improve communication and invite change while taking care of themselves in the process. For this training, There are 14 CEUs available through NYSED and NASW for social workers!

This training, a $500 value, Is being provided for free thanks to grant funding from the Department of public health through the Berkshire Overdose Addiction Prevention Collaborative. (BOAPC).
